Implicitization of Parametric Curves and Surfaces by Using Multidimensional Newton Formulae

چکیده
This paper is devoted to present new algorithms computing the implicit equation of a parametric plane curve and several classes of parametric surfaces in the three dimensional euclidean space. These algorithms do not require the computation of any symbolic determinant or Gröbner Basis, being these tools replaced by the computation of some symmetric functions, in particular the Newton Sums, on the solution set of a well precised zero dimensional ideal. c © 1997 Academic Press Limited

Implicitization of curves and (hyper)surfaces using predicted support
We reduce implicitization of rational planar parametric curves and (hyper)surfaces to linear algebra, by interpolating the coefficients of the implicit equation given a superset of its terms. For predicting these terms, we focus on methods that exploit input and output structure in the sense of sparse (or toric) elimination theory, namely by computing the Newton polytope of the implicit polynom...
متن کاملNumerical Implicitization of Parametric Hypersurfaces with Linear Algebra
We present a new method for implicitization of parametric curves, surfaces and hypersurfaces using essentially numerical linear algebra. The method is applicable for polynomial, rational as well as trigonometric parametric representations. The method can also handle monoparametric families of parametric curves, surfaces and hypersurfaces with a small additional amount of human interaction. We i...
متن کاملApproximate Implicitization of Space Curves
The process of implicitization generates an implicit representation of a curve or surface from a given parametric one. This process is potentially interesting for applications in Computer Aided Design, where the robustness and efficiency of intersection algorithm can be improved by simultaneously considering implicit and parametric representations. This paper gives an brief survey of the existi...
متن کاملImplicitization of Rational Parametric Curves and Surfaces
In this paper we use Gröbner bases for the implicitization of rational parametric curves and surfaces in 3D-space. We prove that the implicit form of a curve or surface given by the rational parametrization x1 := p1 q1 x2 := p2 q2 x3 := p3 q3 , where the p’s and q’s are univariate polynomials in y1 or bivariate polynomials in y1, y2 over a field K, can always be found by computing GB({q1 · x1 −...
متن کاملApproximate Implicitization Using Monoid Curves and Surfaces
This paper presents an approach to nding an approximate implicit equation and an approximate inversion map of a planar rational parametric curve or a rational parametric surface. High accuracy of the approximation is achieved with a relatively small number of low-degree curve segments or surface patches. By using monoid curves and surfaces, the method eliminates the undesirable singularities an...
